Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson is not conceding his Florida seat to challenger Rick Scott.
"We are proceeding to a recount," Nelson said in a statement, according to TPM.
On Wednesday morning, Nelson was lagging behind Scott by some 35,000 votes, putting him as the underdog by less than half a percent.
The first step will be for officials in the state’s 67 counties to verify their counts. After that, the Nelson campaign will try to locate any voters whose ballots weren't counted for whatever reason. The deadline for determining whether a recount will take place is Saturday.
