Feeling a little angst for procrastinating months to write a diary on home abortion, I just came across a recent, already written perfect introductory article and thus I am feeling better. I searched DK to attempt to find if anyone has posted this article. There is a LOT of herstory and current trainings, along with personalized stories of women who have stepped up to be the current “Jane Collective”. Their path in learning the how to provide abortions along with stories of their experience assisting women.
I have attended 1000 births home/hospitals across the country-rural,inner city,burbs/free standing birth centers. and many abortions.
Do believe women are strong. Women have always, forever in time, assisted each other.
Men, with rare exception, have always wanted to control that. embryo’s and births are a really big corporate $$$$$ market. They aren’t gonna let it go easily.
Ignorance, Greed, Arrogance for those who maintain the system.
Fear and Ignorance of those who use the system……………………………
The main dangers of home abortion are: ectopic pregnancy. also, if a woman is Rh negative-that is a potential set up for damages to next fetus.
arrested
Bleeding is essentially a non issue. if paid attention to. it is so amazing how much blood pregnant women can loose and still be fine.
Big tip: always do a pelvic if no ultrasound. women can be in complete denial if they are married to a sterilized man and still be wrong about that one time encounter in the last few months!!!!!!!!!!!
also: women not wanting to be pregnant will go to drastic measures. lots of education and counseling of options is essential. keep, adopt, terminate-home, clinic and consequences…………….
A few excerpts from the Guardian article of August 2018:
On a winter morning, Anna* walked the aisles of an herbal medicine store, picked up a bottle each of blue cohosh and black cohosh, along with a plastic bag of pennyroyal tea, and drove to the topless bar on the edge of town where she worked. There, she met Jules, another dancer. They performed on a small stage with crystal curtains, the green light of an ATM flashing on their left, until 9pm. The women, both in their 20s, then drove to the Motel 6 where Jules lived and entered her dim room on the second floor, which smelled of grape cigars. Anna pulled out the tinctures and tea and explained the plan. She was going to help Jules try to have an abortion.
I have been following the below women for decades and they are consistently updating and improving their info and websites, as research becomes available.

for misoprostil/cheap OTC medicine and effective inducing abortion, so effective that when i was at a national conference for “midlevel” providers, I heard stories of abortion clinics stopping providing misoprostil as a night before procedure medicine, because so many women no showed d/t spontaneous miscarriage……………….. www.womenonwaves.org
Back to the article:
She had grown interested in health work after she’d become pregnant. Doctors had drug tested her repeatedly even though she told them she was sober. They insisted on induced labor. For delivery, they gave her an episiotomy, which resulted in a fourth-degree tear from her vaginal opening to her anal sphincter……..The experience left her angry, and it got her thinking about birth and how to do it better. Within a few months, she’d enrolled in a midwifery school and trained as a doula, a support person and patient advocate during pregnancy. When she wasn’t dancing at the strip club or taking classes, she attended births in homes and hospitals. She gravitated to clients like herself,
I won’t even get into the mental/emotional/physical/spiritual/intellectual abuse of women in the maternity discare industry in usa.
…………………….. this next paragraph names the Del-Em. (you can find out all about how to make one, how to use one, and how to start an “affinity” circle of women practicing on each other. C 1996: A Woman's Book of Choices chronicles the history of ME, the currently accepted standard of ME practice, and its legal ramifications, and offers accounts of actual ME procedures. It also describes the whole range of other abortion alternatives, from state-of-the-art clinical abortions to folk remedies, for women who may be considering terminating a pregnancy. In addition, there is a comprehensive chapter that is directed to medical personnel who may be providing abortion care, and a chapter on the French-developed abortion pill, RU-486 (Mifepristone)…..www.sevenstories.com/… BUT, if you can get your hands on the IPAS MVA, you got a great tool!! www.ipas.org/… professional trainings for placing abortion providers around the globe.

When she walked inside, she hit her head on a chain hanging from the ceiling. Where the fuck are we? she thought as she looked around. The home belonged to a set designer, and the roughly 20 students practiced in themed rooms, giving one another vaginal exams and checking blood pressure. Partway through the workshop, a pregnant woman arrived who had agreed to let them witness her abortion by a Del-Em, a homemade suction device invented by female activists in 1971, when abortion was still outlawed.
It is a really really good read.
