Following the death of a seven-year-old child under Department of Homeland Security (DHS) watch, did Sec. Kirstjen Nielsen go on television to offer a lengthy, heartfelt apology to the girl’s family, to pledge to fully investigate her untimely death, to assure the American public that internal policies will be reviewed and changed, and to pledge that this will never happen again? Nope, she went on Fox & Friends to instead blame the girl’s dad for her death.
A disgusting remark from a disgusting human being who knows full well that as she’s claiming that families should enter the U.S. legally, her very agents are illegally blocking families from entering legally through a U.S. port of entry. And this child, identified by CNN as Jakelin Amei Rosmery Caal Maquin, didn’t die during her journey here. She died under U.S. custody, from dehydration and exhaustion. Nielsen should have been out of her job long ago. She’s still here, and she needs to take responsibility.
