I never want to hear about patriotism and the GOP. When they wave the flag and say they care about our veterans, it’s all lies and propaganda. This is how the GOP treats our military veterans, who suffer from the devastating effects of Agent Orange.
A final deal to provide Department of Veterans Affairs benefits to thousands of veterans who served off the coast during the Vietnam War failed in the Senate on Monday night with little time remaining in the 115th Congress to try again.
The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act would extend eligibility for disability compensation and health care to “Blue Water” Navy veterans – servicemembers who were aboard aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers and other ships, some of whom have fought for years to prove they were exposed to Agent Orange. The dioxin-laden herbicide has been found to cause respiratory cancers, Parkinson’s disease and heart disease, as well as other conditions.
Senator Mike Enzi, R-WY, killed this bill citing deficit concerns. The deficit he added to, when he and his cronies ignored the original CBO report and voted for the GOP tax cut scam.
Rep. Tim Walz, D-Minn., later criticized Enzi’s objection, arguing the same senator voted in favor of the GOP tax cuts estimated to increase the national deficit.
“I must say that it is a bit disheartening to see a bill that was passed unanimously by the House blocked by just a handful of senators over supposed fiscal concerns when those same senators voted to add trillions of dollars to the deficit last year to score a political win on the back of American taxpayers,” Walz said in a statement.
The GOP tax cut scam is getting much worse, as recently revised CBO projections are painting an even gloomier deficit outlook. This oncoming fiscal disaster is courtesy of the supposed “fiscally responsible” Republican Party.
The GOP's signature tax law is projected to increase the national debt by $1.9 trillion between 2018 and 2028, according to a new report by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).
According to the report, the tax law would cost the government $2.3 trillion in revenues, but economic growth would offset that figure by about $461 billion.
Where were Enzi and his cronies, when they needed to object to the tax cut scam being run on the American taxpayer? They chose to ignore taxpayers and rubber stamped Trump.
President Trump kicked off his holiday weekend at Mar-a-Lago Friday night at a dinner where he told friends, "You all just got a lot richer," referencing the sweeping tax overhaul he signed into law hours earlier. Mr. Trump directed those comments to friends dining nearby at the exclusive club -- including to two friends at a table near the president's who described the remark to CBS News -- as he began his final days of his first year in office in what has become known as the "Winter White House."
The president has spent many weekends of his presidency so far at the "Winter White House," where initiation fees cost $200,000, annual dues cost $14,000, and some of the most affluent members of society have the opportunity to interact with the president in a setting while many Americans cannot
This bill was a casualty of Republican tax scam and this was the GOP grand plan all along. Creating a deficit crisis, by ballooning the deficit to make a few people a ‘lot richer’ so they can eventually go after Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the entire social safety net. From now, until 2020, this is something we need to remind voters like a broken record.
