Victorina Morales is making her case to stay in the U.S. The brave undocumented immigrant who stepped forward to reveal that she had worked at Donald Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey, golf resort attended a court hearing regarding her asylum application this week. “A final ruling on her case could take weeks, months, or even years,” The Hill reported.
Morales’ story has put her on the national radar, but she also fears being deported to her home country of Guatemala. "We applied before the story broke based on the fact that her father-in-law was murdered in front of her children,” said her attorney Anibal Romero, “and her family had been receiving threats prior to the story breaking.”
The housekeeper made explosive revelations to the New York Times earlier this month, alleging that Trump Organization management not only knew that she was undocumented, but that they helped her procure more false documentation. Morales further alleged that she was physically abused and threatened with deportation by housekeeping management if she dared complain.
Three others have, so far, also revealed that they worked at the resort despite being in the U.S. without authorization. Romero said that while Morales hasn’t been back to her job since the story, "we haven’t heard anything from anyone letting us know she’s been officially fired from her job.” The state attorney general is now reportedly investigating the resort over the “claims of harassment and immigration fraud.”
