The Mayor of Gnu Town
GoodNewsRoundup has done it again: TICK TOCK DONNY The Beginning Of The End of Trump's Presidency Is Finally Here: Saturday's Good News. In that diary, Unduna dropped a late comment:
Yeah, I’ve been here for a little over 13 years and
THIS IS MY FAVORITE DIARY EVER.
I’m not quite sure what else to say about that. I think it should be self-explanatory that no diary has ever, or even could have ever to date, given this sort of relief and satisfaction. A diary with mile after gorgeous mile of perfectly organized, well-sourced information proving that our deliverance has come, explicating flawlessly, seemingly endlessly, the schadenfreudenously rich and juicy light at the end of our fucking tunnel of fucking darkness from everloving fucking hell really just can’t be beat so, yeah, this has been MY FAVORITE DIARY EVER. I don’t be understand why it’s not everybody’s favorite fucking diary ever. How are you people even being normal, when she’s said it like this?
Thank you, GoodNewsRoundup, you got us through many a dark day, you said this day was coming, and here it is, oh ye warrior of faith, you rock. I bow. 🙏 “ [Thanks, Unduna — 2t]
It’s a long diary, more than 6500 words, but it can easily be read in 7 sections. Here’s the outline:
“Here are 7 reasons why Trump’s days as president are numbered that JUST focus on this Russia stuff (which is not his only problem)”:
- Cohen brought the goods on Trump
- Deutsche Bank is under the microscope
- Roger Stone’s time in the barrel is coming
- Democrats haven’t even gotten started destroying Trump yet
- Manafort may have weaseled out of his agreement, but he still brings trouble to Trump
- Trump’s “kids” are in trouble now too
- The Corsi plea agreement might have been rejected, but It showed us Trump is toast
The Mueller investigation has been relatively efficient and effective
The best part of this tweet is not visible on Daily Kos: You’ll have to open it in a new window (by clicking the blue bird), because Mueller’s data line is cut off.
The data indicate that Mueller is particularly efficient and effective as well as that the Trump Crime Family is particularly corrupt, reckless, and feckless.
Who Won the Week?
Once again I’ve copied the great weekly news summary from Daily Kos’s favorite satirist, Bill in Portland Maine. The following 10 items are from his Who Won the Week? poll in Friday’s Cheers and Jeers. Please enjoy Bill’s on-point analysis and wit, vote in his poll, Rec his diary, get on his bandwagon, send him money, and earn his blessing. (You know he’s still undergoing chemotherapy, right?) Friday’s poll now has more than 2100 votes. C&J archive and future editions here. Way more than 2 thanks to the incredible Willhelm von kosland!
- NASA, for its astonishing, heart-pounding landing of the InSight probe on the surface of Mars. It's mission: drill 16 feet below the surface to free the captive pod people.
- Nancy Pelosi, for winning the House speakership (again!) in a preliminary-vote landslide of epic and historic proportions
- Justice Brett Kavanaugh assault victim Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, for emerging to thank her millions of supporters and announce she'll be donating her unused GoFundMe money to organizations that support trauma survivors
- Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), who with 3 other bystanders helped pull a man from a burning vehicle after a head-on crash in Kansas City, and then helped put out the fire
- Alex Villanueva, who beat incumbent Jim McDonnell on an anti-corruption platform to become the first Democratic Los Angeles County Sheriff in 138 years
- The ACME Miracle Testicle Vise, now intractably attached to the President of the United States as investigations into his multitude of corruption scandals reach a fever pitch and his disapproval rating spikes to 60%
- The Blue Wave, as an unexpected red-to-blue victory in California's 21st House District gives Democrats a crushing 40-seat midterm victory
- The intersection of Karma Street and Schadenfreude Boulevard, as the NRA bleeds from a $55 million financial wound and is forced to fire a bunch of its top media propagandists
- The memes that came down like bricks on vicious First Lady Melania's bizarre, blood-red White House spear trees that'd look more at home in Emperor Palpatine's throne room or the set of The Shining
- Magnus Carlsen of Norway, who won the World Chess Championship by sinking Fabiano Caruana's battleship in 11 innings
Spoiler Alert! … 3 top items … Winner announced … Blur your eyes … Don’t peek! Blue wave 22%, NASA 20%, Nancy Pelosi 17%.

This Guide is for what comes next. The 2016 Indivisible Guide was about using constituent power to defend our values, our neighbors, and our democracy. This Guide is about using our constituent power to go on offense.
Offense is exciting, but it’s more complex than defense. We have the opportunity to use congressional oversight to hold Trump and his cronies accountable. We can set the legislative agenda with a bold progressive vision rooted in inclusion, fairness, and justice. But none of this is automatic — we have to demand it of Congress.
