Belief in gun rights is not a matter of American patriotism.
The founders abhorred gun violence so much that the use of it against them resulting in only FIVE DEATHS in the Boston Massacre triggered the entire American Revolution.
So let's get beyond this idea that the mere use of a gun on our soil is an individual entitlement.
What we have unparalleled rights to is bearing arms, as locally organized and incorporated townships and states... and only in defence of our own local governments in the eventuality WE decide that federal overreach is endangering the lives of its local citizens.
There are more regulations on toy guns than there are on real ones.
There are more regulations on the following things than guns: Art, sinus medications, fertilizer for your garden, medications for your pets, phones, bus passes, concert tickets, passports, state IDs, voting, eating, drinking, selling, buying, maintaining a public toilet, running a coffee shop, garbage pickup, solar power, turbine energy, electric cars, dog collars, pet food, public urination, private sex acts, sale of private property without licensing, driving a car, riding a bike, running a dog park, birth, death, animal ownership and even what language you can use and where it is allowable.
I don’t want to get rid of gun ownership. I want to get rid of easy access to mass human killing machines and I want to limit access to ammo and clip size. I want gun owners to have to have insurance to cover possible damages that the gun can cause, I want the collectable and truly deadly weapons to require training, with testing and licensing just like an automotive machine in general.
I want Americans to remember that we need to make our kids more important than our things, our toys, and frankly?
our belief as a group in our right to cause others harm if we feel “put upon” in any way has ripped the world and the nation to shreds.
It is time for something new.
saying we are going to buy teachers guns when we won't even buy them paper and pencils for their classes half the time is nothing more than adolescent distraction and deflection.
