Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi took the floor at 10:04 Wednesday morning to begin telling the stories of America's Dreamers, the young people who were brought to the U.S. by their undocumented parents and who have been put in peril by Trump and the Republicans.
She has officially set the record for the duration of a House floor speech and is showing no inclination of stopping, no more now as she approaches her 8th hour on the floor than she was in her fifth.
And she’s doing it in high heels. Want to talk stamina, Trump?
As of Wednesday night, the only thing that’s clear is that Pelosi takes the lives of Dreamers very seriously, and when she says she won’t support a budget deal that doesn’t include them, she won’t. What that means for the larger deal and for the potential government shutdown Thursday night remains unclear.
What is clear? That it would be a disaster for Democrats to waste this moment and vote for a deal that doesn’t protect Dreamers.
