It’ll probably be overshadowed by high school students (good for them!) showing their determination to end this country’s death-by-gun culture, but the 11th-17th is Sunshine Week.
That’s the time every year when news organizations, First Amendment advocates and transparency activists concentrate their attention on shadowy government activities at local, state and national levels. Step back from the White House dumpster fire for a few minutes and look around locally.

This bunch in Taneytown, Md., manages to break the law, the Maryland Open Meetings Act, multiple times in eight minutes. Then they have the citizen hauled out by local police. The story promises to have staying power, since someone was stupid enough to press charges.
