Daily Kos congratulates Conor Lamb on his victory in Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District

Today, Daily Kos congratulated Democrat Conor Lamb on his victory in the special election for Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District. Daily Kos was proud to endorse Lamb in January, and the Daily Kos community contributed over $130,000 to the Lamb campaign via more than 10,000 small-dollar grassroots contributions. After red-to-blue flips already this cycle in 39 state legislative seats as well as the New Jersey gubernatorial and the Alabama U.S. Senate races, tonight’s win is the Democrats’ 42nd pickup of the cycle.

“Republicans should have held this deep-red seat without a thought. Instead, Lamb completely erased Donald Trump’s 20-point win in this district to add yet another victory to Democrats’ long and growing list,” said Daily Kos Political Director David Nir. “The fact that Democrats were able to flip a seat Trump won by by such a huge margin—despite getting badly outspent—should fill Republicans with real dread about November. In the face of this massive surge in progressive enthusiasm, as demonstrated by the Daily Kos community’s outpouring of support for Lamb and many other candidates this cycle, Republicans simply can’t afford to spend eight figures to protect every supposedly ‘safe’ seat they’re defending this fall.”
