The occupier of the Oval Office woke up cranky again, and is taking it out on the rest of the nation. Again. We’re back to the Russia investigation and how collusion didn’t happen, it was all just a plot by the Democrats and President Obama, but while it was happening why didn’t Obama do anything about it.
Again he’s arguing both ways—Obama and the Democrats were making up [stories about] Russian interference to help Trump, but Russian interference was happening and Obama didn’t do anything about it, which must make some kind of sense in his addled brain.
But here we’ve got another opportunity to bring up Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s role in this whole thing. That part where he was briefed by the intelligence community about Russia’s interference months before the election and, in the words of former Obama White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, “dramatically watered down” the statement that he eventually agreed to release to states with the rest of the leadership. McDonough was on Meet the Press Sunday, to discuss the Obama administration’s response to Russia’s meddling in the election.
Every time Trump tweets about do-nothing Obama and the Russians, he’s reminding us that McConnell was neck deep in that meddling. Because of McConnell, the warning that states got didn’t even mention Russia or what precisely states should be looking out for. McConnell still hasn’t been pushed to answer for this and the extent of his own collusion. Maybe he’ll have to answer to Mueller.
