Many political pundits are saying that the raid by the FBI on Trump attorney Michael Cohen's office and residence Monday is a watershed moment in Trump's presidency. GOP strategist Rick Wilson is calling it Trump's "Watergate moment," and he urges both Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to for God's sake get on the right side of history and do something.
Paul Ryan has been totally silent in the wake of Trump’s reaction to the Cohen raid and Mitch McConnell merely repeats the same thing he says every time one of these episodes flares up, that he thinks that Mueller should be allowed to finish his investigation and thinks he will be, which is GOP-speak for don’t-ask-me-to-do-my-job-and-lead-I’m-too-busy-with-my-head-in-the-sand-hoping-things-don’t-get-any-worse. That’s a dangerous posture to take with Donald Trump, because just when you think things have hit an all time low, Trump moves the bar yet lower.
