A new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll has grim news for Republicans heading into the midterms. That deficit-exploding tax cut that gave billions to billionaires and crumbs to the plebs is not having the effect the GOP intended:
More than half of registered voters say they haven’t noticed an increase in their paychecks as a result of the new tax law, and support for the law overall remains tepid, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll.
The April 19-23 survey suggests that Republicans’ message about the benefits of the tax cuts, which they are counting on to buoy their election fortunes in November, hasn’t broken through.
According to POLITICO, only 22 percent of those surveyed said they’d noticed an increase in their paychecks in the past several weeks, while 55 percent of respondents noticed no change at all.
That’s horrible news for the GOP, because everyone with eyes attached to their brains can see the guy in the White House is a reckless buffoon who hates anyone with skin darker than his own (Pantone No. 137, aka Canned Pumpkin).
You can rest assured that multi-millionaires and billionaires — the true beneficiaries of the GOP tax scheme — have noticed their windfall and will reward their water carriers accordingly. But their campaign contributions won’t be nearly large enough to stem the coming blue wave.
The tax cut is the only thing Republicans really “accomplished” last year, and apparently no one cares.
November can’t come soon enough.
