Last month, while continuing his slanderous Twitter tirades against Amazon, Inc. and its founder Jeff Bezos, Donald Trump said the United States Post Office was losing billions due to its “Delivery Boy” deal with Amazon. Here is one sample of his Twitter spews:
Even though Trump’s claims were met with disagreement and contradiction by many, including former Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe, order in mid April called for an investigation of the Post Office’s finances, hoping find blame with Amazon. His executive order led to the plummet in Amazon’s stock prices, something Trump, no doubt, had planned as part of his revenge. Many are now aware that the Washington Post is also owned by Jeff Bezos, and has become one of Trump’s worst nemeses. The historic news group that helped take down former President Richard Nixon is relentlessly going after Trump and might not only bring him down, but also be the undoing of the current Republican Party.
This week, the U.S. Postal Service again contradicted Trump, but this time put the blame for sour earnings—where it belongs.
MarketWatch reports:
The U.S. Postal Service placed most of the blame for the $1.3 billion it lost in its second fiscal quarter on “inflexible” government policy, and some of it on inflation and a decline in first-class mail, but it did not blame any of it on delivery deals made with customers, including, notably, Amazon.com Inc.
The current Postmaster General Megan Brennan states:
‘Despite growth in our package business, our financial results reflect systemic trends in the marketplace and the effects of an inflexible, legislatively mandated business model that limits our ability to generate sufficient revenue and imposes costs upon us that we cannot afford.”
It needed to be said. Meanwhile, Amazon stock has recovered and continues to soar. Trump continues to stumble, bumble, fail and fall.
A question for Alexa (Amazon’s answer to Apple’s ‘Siri’): Alexa. Who will be going to the Big House after leaving the White House?
Alexa: “I’m sorry. I’m not sure what you’re asking…do you mean Donald Trump?”
Yes. Thank you, Alexa—and thank you, Jeff Bezos, for not cowering down to an ego-driven, greedy, scamming, bigoted, unfit, unstable POS.
