“We are deeply saddened by the tragedy at Santa Fe High School and send our love and support to the families affected as well as the entire community,” March for Our Lives tweeted in response to Friday’s school shooting at the Texas school. “Though this is the 22nd school shooting this year, we urge those reading not to sweep it under the rug and forget. This is not the price of our freedom. This is the most fatal shooting since the one at our school and tragedies like this will continue to happen unless action is taken.”
Several of the Parkland survivors also tweeted as individuals, expressing rage and grief and solidarity:
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School AP Government teacher Jeff Foster, who had his class watch coverage of the Santa Fe shooting, provided a reminder that each school shooting retraumatizes the survivors of previous shootings:
"The students all seemed to be in disbelief and angry. Watching them, you could see, looking into the kids' eyes, you could see them remembering when they had cameras in their own faces three months ago."
