Donald Trump has nominated a fellow at an anti-immigrant hate group to be his assistant secretary of state for the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration. Ronald Mortensen is currently a fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies, which the Southern Poverty Law Center lists as a hate group, and it looks like he fits right in:
In a post he penned in 2009, Mortensen claims that "illegal immigration and high levels of identity theft go hand-in-hand," "children are prime targets" of identity theft by undocumented immigrants and "Illegal aliens commit felonies in order to get jobs," among other things.
In 2017, Mortensen made this argument again, with his list of felonies committed by undocumented immigrants including that they pay into Social Security they will never receive. Special guy, this one. And this is who Donald Trump wants handling refugee and migration issues for the State Department.
Then again, if confirmed by the Senate, Mortensen will fit right in with the other officials Trump has handling refugees and migrants.
