Roseanne Barr has never shied away from controversy and she’s definitely enjoyed stirring the pot in promotion of her Roseanne reboot with Trump-loving Roseanne Conner at the center of the story. ABC executives may be waking up this morning and rethinking their decision to green light the Roseanne reboot for a second season. Their “edgy” sitcom star targeted Valerie Jarrett, President Obama’s widely respected senior adviser, in a tweet that was both one part vile racism and one part conspiracy.
Needless to say, her tweet is not going over well. At all. As her racist tweet began getting attention, she tried to defend herself by using the time-honored “it was just a joke” defense.
What’s funny about her racism? Not a damn thing. It’s time for ABC to pull the plug on this show.
And for what it’s worth, she pivoted from Valerie Jarrett to needlessly and inexplicably attacking Chelsea Clinton and spreading vaccination conspiracies.
End it, ABC. Consumers have far too many choices in modern times and this is not a good look for a network struggling to hold viewers’ attention.
