Watch the White House press briefing LIVE at 2PM EST from Washington D.C.
"If I were Sarah Sanders there’s zero chance I would have gone to work this morning." Stephanie Rhule on MSNBC this morning after showing the press secretary, looking more uncomfortable than usual, refusing to answer questions in an informal press gaggle about what Rudy Guiliani said last night and this morning. “I don’t comment on legal matters” is her repeated response.
Sarah did go to work and will, barring her having a nervous breakdown, will hold her usual press conference at 2 PM EST.
While psychoanalyzing Trump and warning about his “dangerous case” is of the utmost importance, Sarah Sanders is something of a sideshow. It is still an interesting sideshow, a creepy or cringe-worthy sideshow, but still, one we readily pluck down a nickel to see.
From CNN: Sarah Sanders is teaching us a thing or two about the definition of confounding. As in, bewildering, astonishing, baffling, perplexing, mystifying or -- just plain confusing.
Keli Goff, who writes for The Daily Beast, told me, "Someday 100 Ph.D. theses will be written on Sarah Sanders."
It's difficult for many women to understand how a woman can so glibly defend men who are accused of sexual harassment.
It's one thing to say your boss -- Donald Trump -- denies the allegations leveled against him by at least 15 women, but quite another to come up with a tortured, yet clever, way to discount Trump's female accusers. "The people of this country, at a decisive election, supported President Trump," Sanders
said this week. "And we feel like these allegations have been answered through that process."

Today’s mental gymnastics in the informal setting where she was literally surrounded by reporters gave us a rare opportunity to see her reacting without the protective power of the podium.
I saw a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown. One can only handle so much cognitive dissonance. Unless she is as opportunistic as Mike Pence (read Digby today), she may not be able to compartmentalize her religious values and keep supporting Trump.
What do you think?

"Sarah Huckabee Sanders is a fucking liar. Calling Sanders a liar isn’t an insult, it’s her job description.”
“You have outlasted every man who’s had your job and almost any other job in the Trump White House to become one of the most powerful women in the nation. You are a hell of a role model for little girls everywhere who are smart and hardworking and completely evil.” See the clip.
