Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D. MA) in support of U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown (D. OH), Bob Casey, Jr. (D. PA) and Joe Manchin’s (D. WV) re-election campaigns:
Some of my Senate colleagues are in tough races this year – including Sherrod Brown, Bob Casey, and Joe Manchin.
If any of them lose, we’ll be up a creek.
We absolutely need to keep Sherrod, Bob, and Joe in the Senate. They get into the ring every day to fight for working families – and we’ve got to have their back.
Sherrod, Bob, and Joe are running against Republicans who have nearly unlimited financial support from gigantic corporations, big banks, and powerful special interests.
We’ll only win if we run scrappy, underdog, grassroots campaigns, and those campaigns require support from thousands of individual donors like you. Chip in right now to help Sherrod Brown, Bob Casey, and Joe Manchin fight back.
Let me tell you why I’m so fired up about re-electing these three fighters:
- Sherrod Brown (Ohio): As the top Democrat on the Banking Committee, Sherrod would be chair if we take back the Senate, and he has worked tirelessly to hold the big banks accountable and level the playing field for working class families. He works for the people, not the powerful interests – so it’s no wonder why outside groups spent $40 million trying to get rid of Sherrod in 2012. He beat them the last time around, if we stand together, he’ll beat them again.
- Bob Casey (Pennsylvania): Whether it's been leading on landmark legislation for individuals with disabilities, or standing up against sexual assault, Bob Casey fights for the people who need a fighter on their side. On key issues – like not ripping apart hard-working families, and saving health care access for millions of Americans – I'm glad that Bob and I are fighting on the same team.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D. WV)
- Joe Manchin (West Virginia): Last year, when the fate of health care for millions of Americans hung in the balance, Joe stepped up to the plate and voted to protect the Affordable Care Act. And he stood strong when Republicans jammed their tax scam through Congress. We may not agree on everything, but Joe fights from the heart for the working people he represents.
Sherrod, Bob, and Joe are top targets for Republicans. Right-wing billionaires and shady special interests will pour tens of millions of dollars of dark money into Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia to try to defeat them.
The stakes are high. Senate Republicans only failed to repeal the Affordable Care Act by one vote. Without Sherrod, Bob, and Joe in office, Republicans would have been able to rip health care away from millions of Americans.
Sherrod, Bob, and Joe never forget the people they’re fighting for. They represent working Americans who’ve been battered – but not yet beaten – by outsourcing, factory closures, and an economy that’s rigged to only work for people at the top.
Together, the four of us will keep fighting against the big banks and the special interests. We’ll keep working to level the playing field so everyone has a fighting chance in America. And we can’t afford to lose any of them in the Senate.
