On top of everything else, we're now learning that the Trump team's new policy of systemically separating families and throwing them into separate detention camps is, as you would expect, costing a fortune. According to a government official who spoke to NBC News, it's costing $775 per child per night—and that's for the "tent city" version, tents arranged in an open field for housing children.
That's about three times the cost of an existing detention center, but there aren't enough detention centers for the new Republican policy. That's why they're hurriedly building more, and why the private prison industry is once again beside themselves with glee that the administration has found a new source of prisoners. Children! Of course! Why didn't we think of that sooner?
So there you go. It turns out that bending all of government to serve these closet Nazis' petty whims is, as with the parades and the incessant golf games and every last one of them apparently needing custom furniture and the like, really really expensive. If Trump were replaced with a potted plant, the nation would immediately save billions of dollars and the economy would skyrocket. No more trade wars, no more grifts, no more rush deliveries for urgently needed toddler prisons.
Clowns, the lot of them. Sociopaths and monsters as well, but also clowns.
