Link to HuffPost story Seth Meyers Rips Trump’s ‘Malignant Narcissism’ and Lies.
Many psychotherapists, myself included, have written about Trump being a malignant narcissist. If you Google Trump malignant narcissism you will find a bibliography of articles about Trump’s psychopathology worthy of a Ph.D. dissertation in clinical psychology.
Last night on “Late Night” Seth Meyers began his monologue saying “Trump’s only political skill is his total and complete lack of shame. His malignant narcissism allows him to confidently and brazenly lie in a way that most other politicians would be too embarrassed to even try.”
Everyone knows what malignant means. It’s one of the most frightening words a doctor can ever say to a patient and family. Everyone knows what narcissism means. It’s a negative word but won’t kill you unless you have a malignant narcissist in your life, and then it might.
Together malignant plus narcissism describes a constellation of traits, characteristics, behaviors, and thought patterns which were put together by the well known American social psychologist, psychoanalyst, sociologist, humanistic philosopher, and democratic socialist Erich Fromm as a hypothetical syndrome. Fromm’s most famous book is “Escape from Freedom” written in 1941 about the psychosocial conditions that facilitated the rise of Nazism.
Fromm considered malignant narcissism it as a "severe mental sickness" representing "the quintessence of evil". He characterized the condition as "the most severe pathology and the root of the most vicious destructiveness and inhumanity” (Wiki)
Here’s the generally accepted definition of malignant narcissism:
Thanks to Seth Meyers when you search Trump malignant narcissism on Google the clinical articles about Trump’s dangerous psychopathology have been bounced down the page a bit.
There’s no need to reprise the 50 + “Trumpology” stories I put on Kos, or even bother putting a link on to them. I wrote here about various aspects of Trump’s malignant narcissism starting over a year ago. Now thankfully even liberal pundits who thought Trump would miraculously become (dare I say) “normal” are catching on.
There’s no need to reference the best-selling books “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump” or “Fire and Fury.”
I don’t need to remind myself what psychologist John D. Gartner wrote about Trump and his Tweets way back in Sept. 2017 in “All I Ever Wanted to Know about Donald Trump I Learned from His Tweets: A Psychological Exploration of the President via Twitter.”
There no need to mention the articles by dozens of distinguished psychotherapists warning us about Trump’s psychopathology.
Anyone with a functioning brain unsullied by delusional confirmation bias and a modicum of understanding of psychology knows that Trump, to put it mildly, isn’t normal.
Now that this is online, let’s see if I can break Google too with a search of Trump, and malignant narcissism.

It only took a nanosecond, albeit on page 2.
