Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, the same one who violently grabbed a female reporter (and lied about it) during the 2016 campaign, is still taking heat for his crass, deplorable comments on Fox News this week during a discussion about the humanitarian crisis created by the Trump administration in recent months. In case you missed it, former Hillary Clinton staffer Zac Petkanas brought up the case of a missing 10-year-old girl immigrant girl who had been separated from her mother at the border, even though her father is a legal U.S. resident. Lewandowski butted in to make a “womp womp” sad trombone sound. You can see that moment in the video below. Lewandowski has repeatedly refused to apologize, but he did try to create some revisionist history to say he was mocking Petkanas, not the disabled child.
Needless to say, outrage quickly ensued and today the consequences are rolling. A speaker’s bureau that lines up paid speaking gigs unceremoniously dumped him. From CNN:
Leading Authorities, Inc., one of Washington DC's top speakers bureaus, severed ties with Lewandowski on Wednesday, a source familiar with the matter said. His name no longer appears on the bureau's website.
Speakers bureaus like LAI handle speaking gigs for notable political and media personalities, which can be a lucrative business. Speakers can net five- or even six-figure checks for one engagement.
Instead of immediately barring him as a guest, Fox News helpfully had him on the very next day to sell his revisionist history because the deplorable shit was hitting the fan. It’s more evidence Donald Trump has surrounded himself with people of very low moral character—the lowest. It’s even more outrageous when you consider that only last month, Lewandowski was reported to be talking with Donald Trump so regularly that he was being considered for the chief of staff role in the (inevitable) event John Kelly jumps off the S.S. Trumptanic.
Fox News isn’t alone in standing by Lewandowski. Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government hasn’t yet dropped him as a fellow. And just last month, he was hired by T-Mobile for “consulting” on their merger.
From Politico:
Lewandowski is advising T-Mobile through Turnberry Solutions, a lobbying firm started last year by two fellow veterans of President Donald Trump’s campaign, which Lewandowski managed before being fired.
T-Mobile hired Turnberry last year, but Lewandowski has denied any connection to the firm in the past. “I have nothing to do with Turnberry Solutions,” he told POLITICO in September.
But T-Mobile said on Friday that Lewandowski was advising the firm on the proposed merger as part of its work with Turnberry.
Nothing shady about that! Nooooo, sir. If you are a T-Mobile or a Sprint customer, maybe you should get a hold of them and let them know you don’t appreciate them working with Lewandowski? Let’s hope more companies begin to back away.
