I know this will be one of the hundred diaries on this topic, but I thought I would add mine. I know he was disliked by large parts of the progressive community, and for good reason.
However I saw him speak about two years ago at a fundraiser/thank you for Magen David Adom.
He was easily approachable and did not seem to be as much as a “bad guy” when he was speaking about the topic.
My late Uncle and Aunt used to donate two trucks each year to MDA and once did so in dedication of my fathers name… this is the ceremony I went to.
So I wish well to his family, knowing that we might not agree with someone on most issues, we can sometimes find a common thread.
