What would happen if someone who really believes in Ayn Rand was running the government? What would we get if Paul Ryan or Rand Paul was in charge?
We have an example in the business world -- the performance of Sears and KMart since Edward Lampert starting running things. His goal has been to put Ayn Rand's ideas into action; to actively prove out Objectivist Management Theory. In 2005, after Sears and KMart were merged, but before he began actively managing the two, the combined revenues were over $49 billion with $10.7 billion in shareholder's equity and nearly $5 billion in net earnings. For the fiscal year ended 1/31/2017, revenues were $16.7 billion with a $383 million loss. As of 5/5/2018, the accumulated deficit is now $4.113 billion.
In the past 13 years, Edward Lampert has reduced the combined revenues of Sears and KMart by more than two thirds. He has transformed a $10.7 billion surplus into a $4.1 billion deficit.
