America’s commander wants to be chummy with the enemy who committed the crime. Trump is more concerned with protecting his presidency and validating his election than he is in protecting this country.
This is an incredible, unprecedented moment. America is being betrayed by its own president. America is under attack and its president absolutely refuses to defend it.
Simply put, Trump is a traitor and may well be treasonous.
Why do I add ”Tweeter?
.
I do this because it describes what so many others have observed. Trump plays tiddly-winks while Putin plays a game of three-dimensional chess which he learned over decades. He plays for keeps. He plays ruthlessly. He plays to win and usually does.
.
Trump Tweets without thinking through the consequences. When he Tweets something that proves to be damaging instead of saying it was a mistake or chalking it up to a tummy upset like Scrooge did ------
“You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of underdone potato. There's more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!”
----— he doubles-down because he is incapable of admitting fallibility.
.
This morning before his meeting, Trump was still Tweeting about the witch hunt:
Here’s just one reaction to Trump’s Tweet from someone who knows what’s what with Russia:
It is remotely possible that Trump’s pre-meeting Tweet was a strategic move suggested by our intelligence community to lull Putin into thinking the president doesn’t believe his own spies. I said “remotely.”
If Trump actually believes the Russia investigation is a witch hunt he is living in a world of wishful thinking where the dangerous reality of an attack is kept at bay by a belief that the louder you scream the safer you are.
I envision him standing in front of a herd of stampeding elephants waving hysterically yelling at the top of his lungs “I’m the president, HALT!!!!”
Oh, and yes, Trump is a twit who proves it whenever he Tweets.
