A top GOP fundraiser and donor to Donald Trump is withholding payments on a deal arranged by Trump fixer Michael Cohen to keep a former mistress quiet about their affair. The Wall Street Journal writes:
Elliott Broidy, a Los Angeles venture capitalist and former Republican National Committee official, agreed to pay former Playboy centerfold Shera Bechard $1.6 million—in eight installments, beginning late last year—to keep quiet about her affair with the married donor.
Broidy is reportedly reneging on his third $200,000 installment while alleging the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) was breached when Bechard's former lawyer, Keith Davidson, told Stormy Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti about it. Davidson's attorney (yes, he needs one too) denied that Davidson did anything improper.
Meanwhile, Cohen and Davidson are on a real losing streak. The Broidy NDA is the third Cohen-Davidson affair cover up to go up in smoke over the last several months. The other two NDAs to publicly combust include two Cohen negotiated on behalf of Donald Trump while Davidson represented Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.
McDougal's has dissolved entirely while Daniels' NDA is currently tied up in litigation.
Oh, and there’s also those small investigations into Cohen by both special counsel Robert Mueller and Southern District of New York prosecutors. But that’s a whole ‘nother story.
