In classic con man fashion, the candidate and president who has sworn to bring manufacturing back to the United States isn’t making any attempt to start with his own campaign. In fact, as evidenced by these photos, the Trump campaign is actively getting their gear made in China. From the Associated Press description of the photo above:

In another image, it appears they are also making U.S. flags, which can be seen stacked on the floor.
Under Section 8 of the U.S. Flag Code, a section labeled “Respect for the flag,” it clearly states that the flag should never touch the floor.
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
- The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
- The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.
Talk about disrespecting the flag! And like Trump, the folks selling gear around his appearances aren’t making any attempt to have the merchandise made in the U.S. either. During Trump’s appearance in Kansas City this week, I stopped to check out the gear and I was unable to find any manufacturing information on at least the hats. It appeared the tags had been cut out. When I asked the vendor, he admitted they were made in China, adding that some items had both “Made in the U.S.A.” and “Made in China” tags or no tags at all.
Of course this fits a larger pattern for Donald Trump and his family in general. None of the Donald Trump branded clothing is made in the USA. None of the items in Trump’s tacky hotels are made in the USA. None of the clothing in Ivanka Trump’s now shuttered fashion line were made in the USA. Many of the workers at Trump’s private properties, like Mar-a-Lago are foreign workers here on worker visas, as Trump doesn’t want to pay living wages to residents of West Palm Beach to tend to his guests. Eric Trump primarily hires foreign workers at the Trump winery in Virginia. When it comes to hiring and manufacturing, the Trump family puts America last at every single opportunity, all so they can squeeze a few more dollars of personal profit. Greed over country every single time.
And for what it’s worth, Democrats go out of their way to not only make campaign merchandise in the United States, they typically only buy from union-made to boot. That’s truly putting American workers first.
