Neera Tanden of the Center for American Progress decided to tweet about her “work trip”:
As if the humble-bragging about being in France wasn’t enough, she promptly decided to make things much worse:
What, pray tell, is this “work trip” in Paris? Is CAP turning out or organizing overseas Democrats for the mid-terms? Is there a Senate seat in the 7th arrondissement that sorely needs CAP’s attention to bring it in play?
Of course not. It’s a f’ing junket to commiserate with other center-right talking heads over Camembert and Pomerol. And that’s why we are in the predicament we’re in. Because every well-paid Democratic consultant is happy to take a “work trip” to Paris, but thinks GotV in Michigan and Wisconsin are a hardship assignment.
I’m not sure what was going through the president of CAP’s head, but she was promptly ratio’ed to oblivion:
What I don’t understand is why the head of a well-funded #resistance organization is spending her valuable time engaging in flame wars on Twitter? Does she think that is more important than, say voter registration, GotV for candidates, organizing for immigrants and others hurt by Trump administration policies? Apparently so. Or is it that doing those things, the actual hard work of organizing resistance and bringing change, are all too difficult to do from the comfort of a couch in Georgetown?
Can major Democratic donors please find a clue and redirect resources away from ineffective, meaningless luxury props like CAP to campaigns like Rev. Barber’s campaign? You know, the folks who are out there trying to organize the resistance instead of tweeting at us from Paris?
