First diary of PNW vacation pictures.
While driving from Seattle to Port Angeles on the second week of the vacation I did a few stops along the way if I saw signs for things that looked interesting. One stop turned out to be a Audubon Center located on the Dungeness River where the Olympic Discovery Trail crossed the river on an old bridge. So I took a short hike and snapped some photos!
And then went back into the center since they had displays on the local wildlife so that I could try to identify a few birds I had seen but was unfamiliar with.
The Daily Bucket is a nature refuge. We amicably discuss animals, weather, climate, soil, plants, waters and note life’s patterns.
We invite you to note what you are seeing around you in your own part of the world, and to share your observations in the comments below.
Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the phenological patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. To have the Daily Bucket in your Activity Stream, visit Backyard Science’s profile page and click on Follow.

Standing on the bridge was also a good place to watch swallows and other birds swoop about. And I noticed one consistently flying to a nearby tree branch.
