The research clinical psychologist who accuses Judge Brett Kavanaugh of attempted rape, Christine Blaisey Ford publishes under the name of Christine Blaisey, Ph.D.
The areas she has researched include alcoholism, opioid addiction, and 9-11 trauma, among other things. Just from the sampling of articles below you can see that she has had an accomplished scientific career. I think she will be highly credible if and hopefully when she testifies before the Senate Judicial Committee.
It won’t be lost on anyone that Anita Hill was also a university professor and that years later many people believe she told the truth about Clarence Thomas.
Below, from “Anita Hill’s claims echo in allegation against Kavanaugh. Three decades later, will anything be different?” Washington Post
EXCERPTS:
(Senator Patty) Murray asked her colleagues to “treat this survivor with empathy and humanity and make sure that the United States Senate in 2018 doesn’t send the signal it sent to millions of women in 1991 who were scared to speak up, afraid to share their stories, and watched on television as someone very much like them was attacked and maligned.”
“Because Justice Thomas was not fully vetted, his career on the court has been under a cloud,” (John) Dean said. “Thomas’s truthfulness vis-a-vis Professor Anita Hill’s claims of sexual harassment has never been fully resolved.”
While it is a shame that a woman’s career makes a difference as far as believability in the #MeToo era, the fact of the matter is that if Dr. Ford had a less prestigious career it would be easier for the Republicans to attack her. They will no doubt try but I think they will find it a major challenge to dispute her allegations because she is no doubt held in high regard among her colleagues who may testify as character witnesses.
According to Bloomberg News: “The Trump team plans to try to discredit the charges for surfacing late in the confirmation process and to question the credibility of the accuser because she didn’t tell anybody about the incident at the time, the official said.”
Thanks to #MeToo anyone with the ability to understand the trauma of sexual assault knows that years ago it was common for a victim not to tell anybody about the assault at the time it happened
Here's a sample of some of her academic research publications. I don't expect many of you to read the abstracts, but please scroll down to take the poll: Do you think Kavanaugh will end up on the Supreme Court?

Alcohol Treatment Quarterly
Abstract: This study examined the relationship between treatment attrition, psychological distress, and interpersonal problems in 120 patients participating in an alcohol and drug intensive outpatient program. Results indicated a relationship between attrition from alcohol and drug treatment and psychological distress and interpersonal problems. Specifically, patients who did not complete treatment scored higher on both depression and anxiety than treatment completers. Further, two types of interpersonal problems, Domineering and Vindictive, were positively related to treatment attrition. These findings suggest that routine assessment and early identification of psychological distress and interpersonal problems may minimize attrition from alcohol and drug treatment by helping clinicians identify at risk patients and provide early adjunctive intervention strategies.

Psychosocial Predictors of Resilience After the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attacks

Abstract:
The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 inflicted distress beyond those directly exposed, thereby providing an opportunity to examine the contributions of a range of factors (cognitive, emotional, social support, coping) to psychological resilience for those indirectly exposed. In an Internet convenience sample of 1281, indices of resilience (higher well-being, lower distress) at baseline (2.5–12 weeks post-attack) were each associated with less emotional suppression, denial and self-blame, and fewer negative worldview changes. After controlling for initial outcomes, baseline negative worldview changes and aspects of social support and coping all remained significant predictors of 6-month outcomes, with worldview changes bearing the strongest relationship to each. These findings highlight the role of emotional, coping, social support, and particularly, cognitive variables in adjustment after terrorism.
Cognitive, coping, and trauma symptom predictors of posttraumatic growth (PTG; measured with the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory) were examined in a large convenience sample (n =1505) participating in a longitudinal Internet-based study following the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01. Results indicate that initial PTG levels (mean 9 weeks post-attacks) were generally associated with higher trauma symptoms (measured with the PTSD Checklist - Specific), positive changes in worldview (measured with the Changes in Outlook Questionnaire), more denial, and less behavioral disengagement (measured with the Brief COPE).

Objectives: The objectives of this study were to provide estimates of the prevalence and strength of association between major depression and chronic pain in a primary care population and to examine the clinical burden associated with the two conditions, singly and together.
Conclusions: Chronic pain is common among those with MDD. Comorbid MDD and disabling chronic pain are associated with greater clinical burden than MDD alone
Efficacy and Safety of Mifepristone for the Treatment of Psychotic Depression

Open-label studies and randomized clinical trials have suggested that mifepristone may be effective for the treatment of major depression with psychotic features (psychotic depression). A recent study reported a correlation between mifepristone plasma concentration and clinical response.
Objective: To further define the language profile of children with velocardiofacial syndrome (VCFS) and explore the influence of parental origin of the deletion on language.

She is willing to tell her story publicly, her lawyer, Debra Katz, said Monday on NBC’s “Today” show.
“She’s willing to do whatever it takes to get her story forth,” Katz told NBC’s Savannah Guthrie, when asked if Ford would testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is scheduled to vote Thursday on whether to advance Kavanaugh’s nomination to the full Senate. www.huffingtonpost.com/...
