If you’d thought we’d reached bottom, think again……….
There. Is. No. Bottom.
Evidence:
Yesterday, The President of the United States of America said these things. Out loud. In the Oval Office, to a reporter from The Hill:
“I should have fired Comey the day I won the primaries”
“I should have fired him right after the convention”
?
Trump also mentioned that he is ordering the declassification of documents related to the Russia probe because exposing it as a partisan “hoax” would be a “crowning achievement” of his presidency.
??
Trump said he had not read the documents he ordered declassified but said he expected to show they would prove the FBI case started as a political “hoax.”
???
In the end, he said, his goal was to let the public decide by seeing the documents that have been kept secret for more than two years. “All I want to do is be transparent,” he said.
????
Asked what he thought the outcome of his long-running fight with the FBI, the president said: “I hope to be able put this up as one of my crowning achievements that I was able to ... expose something that is truly a cancer in our country.”
?????
To recap:
- The President of the United States of America thinks he could have fired the Head of the FBI before he was inaugurated as President.
- The President of the United States of America declassified and released FBI documents from an ongoing investigation, without even reading them.
- The President of the United States of America declassified and wants to release FBI documents from an ongoing investigation, because “all he wants is to be transparent,” but won’t even release his own tax returns.
- The President of the United States of America, and head of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government, calls the Federal Bureau of Investigation a “cancer in our country.”
Now go about your lives, folks, and have a happy Wednesday.
Please see RETIII’s Excellent diary, which explains exactly what the document release means for all of us.

FBI, Justice Dept plan to redact Russia documents despite Trump order for full declassification: report
The Department of Justice (DOJ), FBI and Office of the Director of National Intelligence are reportedly expected to propose redactions to a series of documents related to the Russia investigation that President Trump ordered to be declassified this week.
Bloomberg News reported on Wednesday that the agencies are currently doing a methodical review of the documents. There is no official timeline on when their evaluation of the sensitive documents will be finished.
But the news outlet, citing sources familiar with the process, noted that the FBI and the DOJ plan on submitting their proposed redactions to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. [Dan Coats]
The office is expected to then assemble the material and turn it over to the White House, Bloomberg reported.
“There. Is. No. Bottom.
Sigh... Only an ass.”
