In a wildly inappropriate and unprecedented move engineered by the White House, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh got a national hearing in front of the friendliest possible audience, Fox TV. But even in that set-up, where he was given every opportunity to demonstrate his good character and his fitness to serve, he lied. At least one very demonstrable time.
Asked about whether he ever drank at parties in high school, he said first, "When I was in high school […] I was focused on academics and athletics, going to church every Sunday at Little Flower, working on my service projects, and friendship, friendship with my fellow classmates and friendship with girls from the local all-girls Catholic schools." Getting that boy scout image thing down as his talking points told him to.
Then he said "And yes, there were parties. And the drinking age was 18, and yes, the seniors were legal and had beer there." Nope.
None of his high school drinking was legal, even when he was a senior.
This man cannot NOT lie.
