Please, please let this show up on Fox or at least Morning Joe tomorrow morning — Trump watches the latter quite a bit it would seem. Coulter wasn’t the only person who jumped on Trump over the deal to fund the govt. last month. Limbaugh did too but while watching Chris Hayes I’ve learned that Coulter worked with the equally odious Stephen Miller to “craft” Trump’s (anti) immigration policy & campaign schtick.
Let’s recap. Trump was ready to sign legislation that would have funded the rest of the government for the rest of the fiscal year except for Homeland Security which would only be funded to next month — February 8 if I remember correctly. The Senate and House were ready to go and pass the measures and get out of town for the Christmas holiday secure in the belief Trump would keep his word and sign the legislation. The Senate went first passing the CR by a unanimous voice vote. The House was scheduled to pass it the next morning. Then Coulter very publicly called Trump out as being cowardly, caving etc. and insisting his Presidency was over if he didn’t get his wall funded. She (and then Limbaugh and then others) started SHOUTING (in Limbaugh’s case literally I guess) at Trump that his base would abandon him.
So Trump reneged and said he wouldn’t sign anything that didn’t include 5 billion (a figure that would go up) for his wall and Paul Ryan refused to allow the House to take up the measure. And then the extremely “bigly” lame duck Ryan beat feet out of town. And so the shutdown Trump had once promised he’d gladly own & take the heat for came to be. As predictable as Trump reneging on his word (upon the least bit of criticism he might upset his base) was Trump then trying to shift the blame. He’s always been a “take credit for anything good (even if he had nothing to do with it) and blame any & everyone else for anything bad. Even if he had everything to do with the latter. It was sooooo predictable. Just how craven & weak McConnell would prove to be did I confess surprise me a little. McTurtle wouldn’t want to embarrass the Prez by forcing him to veto the funding legislation right away. But I actually thought as the paychecks stopped coming for all the affected federal workers he’d cave. He was already facing a very tough map for keeping the Senate in 2020 and has privately had plenty of his GOP colleagues wanting to get past this. I’m sure their argument was to reopen the govt. and convince Trump campaigning on Democrats blocking his wall would be good for the entire GOP come 2020.
But Trump got bullied. And the bullying has continued. The fact a woman was instrumental in bullying him into shutting down the govt. is eating him alive. The fact another woman who happens to be our very own Speaker Nancy Pelosi is outmaneuvering him and telling him NO means he’s powerless — trapped between two women! Can you imagine how crazy that’s making Trump? Personally, I’ve known since second grade (when I got pulled from my original grade school and put in our town’s first “enriched” student program) that there were females as smart as or smarter than me. That’s a lesson that’s been reinforced in all the decades (almost six) since btw. Trump however doesn’t believe there are any men who are his equal (except I guess his buddy Vlad) much less smarter/better. And he can’t conceive any woman, even his beloved daughter Ivanka is anywhere close to his level. Yet he knows in his tiny heart and even smaller brain that he’s publicly getting spanked by Speaker Pelosi and even his pal Ann Coulter!
Anyway the whole thing is really weird. Trump seems to have blocked or unfollowed or whatever it is you do on Twitter the day after Coulter put out her “If you don’t shut down the govt. to get the wall you’re toast” thing. But he did what she said he should do.
Now tonight I see clips from an interview where she literally says he’s the world’s worst negotiator! Better still, when asked about Trump business acumen and negotiating skills she almost said it was all bullshit. She caught herself and (uncharacteristically for her) used a rather diplomatic way of saying it. To wit “It was overstated.” Ouch. Now, as with Mattis’ resignation letter Trump won’t be smart enough to get it at first. But someone will let him know, even if via watching MSNBC which he claims he doesn’t watch (but actually does) that Coulter sat there on camera and basically said his (Trump’s) self-hyped business and negotiating skills were puffed up bullshit of the highest order.
IOW he’s going to be an evil twin version of the late Chris Farley holding his head saying “That’s going to leave a mark.”
Trump, who considers himself the ONLY true alpha male who has ever existed has one woman telling him he’s a loser & will lose all of his adoring goober fans if he doesn’t get his wall money, while also saying he’s the world’s worst negotiator because he’s already dropped from the original estimated cost to only five billion. And for good measure in response to a direct question stating his supposed business and negotiating prowress turns out to have been overblown. (Just like every other self-professed awesome traits he touts btw). Worse, the person who he really, really needs to bail him out is over on Capitol Hill and now the leader of the Democratic Party. Another woman. Nancy Pelosi. And she’s telling him no!
He’s in a personal hell — one of his own making. If real people weren’t suffering I’d be enjoying the hell out of it.
I don’t know when or how this ends. But I hope along the way all the male goobers out in his base start wondering about how he’s getting pushed around. And if some of them hear Coulter mocking their hero maybe start to realize Speaker Pelosi isn’t the only woman pushing Trump around & in fact owning his worthless ass.
