Last year, Donald Trump lapped up visas for foreign workers like they were hamberders, after the Trump Organization requested—and got—at least 192 visas, TPM reports. “That number appears to be the highest for the company going back to at least 2008 and likely much earlier, based on public records.”
The largest number of visas, of course, went to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, where wealthy members have also been able to buy access to the president, buy ambassadorships, and maybe run a federal department for kicks. “The ‘Winter White House’ where Trump spends much of his time received 78 temporary foreign worker visas last year for waiters, cooks and maids.”
Trump once said that under his watch, the U.S. would “follow two simple rules: buy American, and hire American,” but then again, he’s a fucking hypocrite who is not just perfectly willing to not follow his own two simple rules, but also hired the same undocumented immigrants he demonizes for political gain to work at his golf resort in New Jersey.
Former housekeeper Victorina Morales is standing by her decision to take on the president at great personal risk. “We need to come out and defend ourselves,” she said. “I had enough with suffering.” Morales alleged that not only was she physically and verbally abused by management, but that they procured false documentation for her. Attorney Anibal Romero, who recently handed over those documents to authorities, said undocumented immigrants still work at Bedminster.
“If in fact he wanted to ‘buy American, hire American,’” said attorney Charles Kuck, “he’d say ‘we’re not going to use the immigration system, we’re going to go out and bring our workers down from West Virginia or from Kentucky or Maine and set them up and give them jobs. Why aren’t they recruiting in West Virginia? It’s hypocrisy.” It’s Donald Trump.
