They came for her right away, when it looked good for Dems to retake the House.
Republicans screeched at her and supported her opponents for Speaker.
Weak-chinned Democratic opponents ‘challenged’ her, mostly by smearing and without substantive plans themselves.
Safe Dems took subtweet-esque potshots at her, and let their shrill talking-head supporter-pundits try to tear her down, once it was clear she’d be Speaker.
Trump challenged her immediately on The Wall, and dug in HARD.
And yet, she persisted. And she prevailed. She carried the weight of the expectations of so many among the American people, and the weight of her colleagues who didn’t have the gumption or the power themselves to fight.
Pelosi carried Schumer through the fight over the Wall, a fight that most of us I think believe Schumer wouldn’t have won.
Nancy F*cking Pelosi, ladies and gentlemen...cemented her legacy today.
Shoutout to the LGA air traffic controllers too, who likely added the final nail to Trump’s shutdown con today.
