So, sitting in synagogue yesterday, reading some of the commentary in the machzor (prayer book) our congregation uses, when I read of Gandhi’s Seven Social Sins (1925), and realized Trump has achieved 5 of them:
- Wealth without work.
- Pleasure without conscience.
- Commerce without morality.
- Worship without sacrifice.
- Politics without principle.
(as an aside, evidently the machzor in question misattributed the list to Gandhi, when it appears he was publicizing a sermon previously given by Frederic Lewis Donaldson, an Anglican priest.)
The only two he misses on:
- Knowledge without character.
- Science without humanity.
Which I do not believe he can achieve, given his extensive record of having no knowledge, and of denying science.
