Thank you Subaru. Unlike many advertisers not only do you have new commercials on all the time, but you never feature human beings in any of your ads.
The stars of the commercials are called the Barkleys, although possibly at the request of cat lovers there are several “Meowleys” in more and more of the commercials.
The commercials began to air in 2009 touting the cars as “Dog tested. Dog approved” but since then they have become in my opinion the best commercials on television. Subaru figured out that there are millions of dog and cat lovers out there. This is something Liberty Mutual hasn’t cashed in on since there aren’t that many people who can relate to a decidedly uncuddly emu so stupid it pecks at its own reflection. I mean, how many people could even tell you that LiMu the Emu was selling Liberty Mutual insurance?
Subura even offers a line of branded pet accessories. Take that Trump merchandise!
I see the commercials on MSNBC, the only channel I watch live, where they stand out in stark contrast to ads for medicines whose side effects often sound far worse than the conditions they are supposed to treat.
The only disease every reader here shares is Trumpophobia (not in the DSM so see Urban dictionary). This is the fear and aversion to Donald Trump and everything he stands for.
These ads may not be an antidote to the Trump toxins coursing through our systems, but for a few seconds they do provide relief.
About the poll:
I’ve always been interested in how people are influenced by advertising. In fact when I dropped out of college for two years and lived in New York City I had an “in” to get a job in the mail room at a major advertising company. This was no small thing as it was considered an entry level job for non-college graduates who could sometimes work their way up. Instead, I got a job as an underpaid “semi-professional” librarian at Yeshiva University’s Graduate School of Education and worked there for two years until I went back to college.
