The question of Medicare-for-All raising taxes is fearmongering. When Democratic candidates like Pete Buttigieg demand that Elizabeth Warren admit to higher taxes, they are trying to make voters fear her plan, not to clarify it.
Decades of Republican anti-tax propaganda have demonized taxes, which undermines all liberal social policies. Reinforcing that anti-liberal propaganda is a reckless strategy for any Democrat, one that endangers us all.
Nobody doubts that Warren can make good her numbers on reducing overall medical costs for the middle class. Therefore, all the efforts to isolate one component of those costs – taxes – and force her to admit that this particular component will rise, are not honest doubts about her overall program, but are reckless, dangerous, pro-Republican, anti-liberal fearmongering, and they should stop.
