So Sen. John Kennedy appeared on The Lead with Jake Tapper to push the usual silliness about the Trump impeachment proceedings being conducted “in secret” — as if House Democrats will conclude their investigation and immediately send the gendarmes to the White House to arrest Trump and chain him up in the basement of Comet Ping Pong.
That notion has been debunked over and over again, and I’d do so again here, but it’s nearly weed o’clock. Suffice to say, these are rules Republicans put in place, and none other than Republican drow elf Trey Gowdy said only last year that private interviews are “much more constructive” than open hearings.
But Kennedy had gotten his talking points, and he was determined to deliver them with the cornpone enthusiasm of Mr. Haney selling Oliver Wendell Douglas a sack of magic soybeans.
If you really want to watch this halfwitted carnival barker, his interview is embedded below. But I was far more interested in the response of Rep. Ted Lieu, who has heard much of the testimony in the impeachment inquiry.
They’ll blanch, huh?
You mean it’s possible for Trump’s enablers to be whiter than they already are? That should be interesting.
Clearly, Republicans are trying to cement in Americans’ minds the idea that this is all just an illegitimate, one-sided circus that’s so, so very unfair. The tactic will probably work with some. But more inconvenient truths are coming, and I, for one, can’t wait.
Is Trump still chafing your arse-cheeks? Then Dear F*cking Lunatic: 101 Obscenely Rude Letters to Donald Trump and its breathlessly awaited sequel Dear F*cking Moron: 101 More Letters to Donald Trump by Aldous J. Pennyfarthing are the pick-me-up you need! Reviewers have called these books “hysterically funny,” “cathartic,” and “laugh-out-loud” comic relief. And they’re way, way cheaper than therapy.
