Trump will be the first sitting president in history to attend the parade celebrating Veteran’s Day in New York City. Presidents usually celebrate Veterans Day in a solemn ceremony by laying at wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
Not Trump.
He found a parade.
This parade is supposed to be totally non-partisan and not political according parade organizers.
Cadet Bone spurs, unlike other presidents who did so many times, only visited vets overseas once. He was too busy ruining the country. He has repeatedly put his thumb in the eye of veterans from John McCain to Gold Star families. There’s no sense listing more examples of how Trump doesn’t care about veterans. Obviously he only cares about himself.
Trump loves a parade where he will be the center of attention.
By going to New York City where he is persona non grata among the majority of residents he has made it political. He has also behaved according to form because — excuse the slang — he gets off on antagonizing his enemies.
New York, New York, It’s Not Trump’s Town
This is how his hometown tabloid, the New York Daily News, put it this morning in Anti-Trump sentiment brewing among vets as he’s set to lead Veterans Day Parade despite contentious relationship with military.
A strong anti-Trump sentiment has been brewing among veterans nationwide even before he was a candidate because of what they see as a continuing pattern of disrespect — and using his supposed support for the military as nothing more than a photo op.
Will Goodwin, a U.S. Army veteran and the director of government relations at progressive advocacy group VoteVets, said Trump’s New York visit is par for the course for a president “obsessed with parades and strongmen.”
Goodwin pointed out presidents typically visit the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia on Veterans Day to lay a wreath on the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier.
“It’s a very solemn day that’s supposed to be about respect,” Goodwin told the Daily News. “It’s of course right up his ally that he would go to a parade in New York instead. We’ve seen this show before where Donald Trump makes everything about Donald Trump ... it’s him not being able to just be respectful.”
A spokesman for Common Defense, a grassroots veterans group opposed to Trump, told The News that he always “makes everything about himself, even our most sacred events, and it is absolutely obscene,” adding that members are planning to protest his appearance in New York Monday.
Everything Trump does is driven by his narcissism.
