Thanks to Trump’s own behavior the hashtags in my title are trending on Twitter. I took advantage of this to make and tweet this photoshop:
From a psychological point of view what we are seeing is yet another manifestation of Trump’s psychopathology. There’s no need for me to rehash this again, or put another way, to re-hashtag this, #UNFIT and #DutytoWarn stories about Trumpology.
Just a definition of this self-explanatory concept of self-defeating behavior:
For social psychologists, a self-defeating behavior is any behavior that normally ends up with a result that is something the person doing the behavior doesn’t want to happen. If you are trying to accomplish some goal, and something you do makes it less likely that you will reach that goal, then that is a self-defeating behavior. If the goal is reached, but the ways you used to reach the goal cause more bad things to happen than the positive things you get from achieving the goal, that is also self-defeating behavior. Social psychologists have been studying self-defeating behaviors for at least 30 years. And although they have identified several things that seem to lead to self-defeating behaviors, much more can be learned about what self-defeating behaviors have in common, and how to get people to reduce the impact of these behaviors in their lives. Trump's psychopathology combined with his stupidity may be his undoing. He is recklessly letting himself sink deeper and deeper into a swamp. If he had a lawyer with him when he was about to make this tweet and was willing and able to tell him what not to tweet he'd never have done this. However Trump thinks he is his own best lawyer.
Today's tweet is an example of where his narcissism intersects with his stupidity.
He thinks he is his own best lawyer.
A fairly normal person with a smidgen of self-awareness would regret making a tweet which not only led to an immediate negative reaction in the mainstream media but also led to GOP Rep. Liz Cheney criticizes Trump for tweet on Yovanovitch. The No. 3 Republican in the House says President Donald Trump ‘was wrong’ to post tweets critical of former Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch during her testimony in the impeachment hearings. Rep. Liz Cheney said Yovanovitch ‘clearly is somebody who’s been a public servant to the United States for decades and I don’t think the president should have done that.’ ” PBS Story
Even Fox News:
I doubt Trump will regret this for a second.
