First off, I am not much into cable news. There are many reasons for this, which I will not get into, but if I watch news it is from CNN or MSNBC. I have tried to sit thru a minute or two of Fox, but cannot.
Yet if you talk to the typical Fox viewer they act as if they’ve seen the light, ranting, wanting to share untruths and not engage in civilized debate.
As a psychologist this pathology has always intrigued me and I think that the above photo sums up the issue succinctly.
I know MSNBC is not a perfect source for news. But if you look at the three bullet points in the above screen capture and compare it to the Fox News capture something becomes apparent quickly.
MSNBC lists factual statements, and actions undertaken by the actor in the image. Fox news, on the other hand states opinions of the president and his party and not facts.
It is easy to digest and hey...easy to believe. Never let it be said that facts vs. opinions should get in the way of a good argument.
When I have friends of the Trump supporting variety they, each and every day support the most outlandish jpgs and statements, how Warren wants to kill all babies, etc. I quickly show them to be false, or as tRump would say fake news… but she never takes the image down or agrees that it was indeed not real. again, never let facts get in the way.
I hate to keep bringing up this video, but I think it sums the issue up better than I ever could.
