One of the more interesting aspects of the impeachment hearings going on in Washington is the nature of most of the witnesses. They are, in general, conservative military and state department officials, all a part—or once a part of—Donald Trump’s administration. This has put a very bright light on the scurrying roaches we call the Republican Party these days. In the absence of any coherent defense of Donald Trump’s actions his only defense seems to be he didn’t get away with it so it shouldn’t count. This puts alleged sexual assault accessory Jim Jordan and anti-humor conspiracy theorist Devin Nunes in a tight position. Their mandate is to grovel and bark and growl at anyone who might displease their orange idol of corruption and power.
But, with no facts to find that might exonerate their fearful leader, GOP officials like Nunes have decided to try and backhandedly, like the cowards they have always been, denigrate the integrity of the pretty unassailable witnesses appearing before the committee. Witnesses like Lt. Col. Vindman, who is being attacked for being an immigrant, are subjected to strange questions and disrespectful treatment. This imbecilic tact being taken by Nunes and others led to this great exchange, early on Tuesday.
And that was the genius of #DevinNunesIsAnIdiot as a trending topic.
The fact that people don’t understand this simple math.
