Just a quick note before the pix. Apart from whitewashing the cardboard, which is a bit of a drag but only takes a couple of minutes, every part of doing this is fun. Making signs is just art, finding the right places to put them is a great strategy game, and posting them is like being a ninja. Although the average age of our signposters is just shy of sixty, they all agree that once a sign is up they walk away feeling about twenty-five.
Remember, this is your right: people died for it.
One thing I’ll always be proud of is inspiring The Cisco Kid to pick up a paintbrush.
These next two are from an old friend in Iowa. She was one of the first people to get it. She got a projector and started sending in sign pix way back in 2004. It’s good to see her back in action.
These are from @suevisa in Oakland — she used to work with cloth until I showed her the miracle that is whitewashed cardboard. The East Bay, and your twitter feed, can look forward to more interesting decor.
The two below are by @signprotest in Cleveland — he/she makes stencils and sends them out to those willing to use them.
I think he sent some to Yossarian, seen here in Phoenix. He’s relatively new but very prolific, well worth following.
“It’s the corruption stupid” by Thorbites. I think she may be pushing 300 signs.
From @runzwithknives in Colorado Springs. Profiled here.
These are courtesy of @AlphabetResist in Seattle
Fans of The Big Lebowski will appreciate these two:
