Election Day is Tuesday, which makes Monday official, no-joke, get-out-the-vote crunch time. And while 2019 is an “off” year, there are still chances to make a big difference—and to make history.
In Virginia, the state House and state Senate are up for grabs, and I really mean up for grabs. Democrats need to flip just two seats in each chamber. Daily Kos has endorsed some amazing candidates, and this community has stepped up to help them run strong campaigns. Now it’s time to help them make a strong push over the finish line.
You can volunteer in Virginia's critical legislative campaigns with both the on-the-ground and virtual events.
In Texas, a special election for state House gives Democrats another chance to flip a seat after 2018’s big gains. Educator Eliz Markowitz is running for a seat where Sen. Ted Cruz saw his winning margin shrink from 64-34 in 2012 to 51-48 in 2018. This is part of the (tricky, tough, but suddenly plausible) road map to Democrats taking the state House.
Here are canvassing events for Eliz Markowitz in the Houston area.
In Mississippi, Jennifer Riley Collins is running for attorney general. She’d be the first woman in the role (her Republican opponent is also a woman) and the first African American. But, she says, “'m not running to make history, I am running to make a difference.” Collins has some big hurdles to overcome, including a Jim Crow-era law that could allow legislative Republicans to steal the election, but she’s mounting a strong campaign and we can get her back.

Every election matters. Let’s fight to make the 2019 elections move the country forward, not back.
