It's Election Day in Kentucky, where Moscow Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump teamed up to help a guy they both loathe and call a "pain in the ass," Matt Bevin, retain the governorship. But it was as much about McConnell's reelection as Bevin's, since this election is going to bleed straight into the next one, when it's McConnell's Senate seat on the line. Trump made sure to do some stumping for McConnell during the Bevin rally they appeared at Monday, telling the crowd McConnell "works smarter" than others in Washington, while detailing all of McConnell’s supposed accomplishments during Trump's administration. (That would be the massive tax cut scam and appointing unqualified, partisan judges, as well as obstructing the House Democrats' agenda to actually accomplish things that help people.)
In that vein, McConnell stumped for himself, touting having gotten so many Trump judges into office. "My motto is 'leave no vacancy behind,'" he bragged. Never mind that the nominees he's been pushing through have less than stellar qualifications. In fact, since 1989 only 21 judicial nominees have been rated unqualified by the American Bar Association. More than one-quarter of them were nominated by Trump in the last three years—eight of them, in fact. Just ponder that for a bit. President Obama didn't nominate a single unqualified judge, but Trump has had eight in just three years. It took George W. Bush two terms to pick the nine unqualified candidates he racked up.
McConnell has pushed through five of them so far, and there are another two on deck—the "arrogant, lazy ideologue" Lawrence VanDyke, who cried crocodile tears over his ABA rating, and anti-abortion zealot Sarah Pitlyk, who "has never tried a case as lead or co-counsel, whether civil or criminal [and] has never examined a witness," as the ABA's committee unanimously pointed out in rating her unqualified.
The Senate Majority Leader is infesting the federal judiciary with unqualified, bigoted judges. And he’s doing it for Trump, a bigoted, unqualified president. Because it wasn't enough to destroy the Senate.
He has to be stopped. Please give $1 to our nominee fund to help Democrats and end McConnell's career as majority leader.
