A brief diary to point anybody interested in Harris as a person or as a candidate at this interview.

Her interview starts after the first break, and goes the entire rest of the session.
This is in theory one of those “She wrote a book” interviews for The Truths She Holds and her childrens book Superheroes Are Everywhere, but mostly it’s a freewheeling interview with Trevor Noah on a lot of topics including criminal justice reform, what it’s like to be a candidate with press following you around and reporting on stupid shit, border security and immigration reform, her changes to taxes to directly benefit under 100k income folks and more.
Near the end Trevor asks why she’s for a bunch of policies that are very similar to Aoc/Sanders Democratic Socialist policies without taking that label. The paraphrase I’d give for her answer is that her end goal would be a market economy with a level playing field but we have nothing like that now, and getting to that point is going to take major structural changes in regulation, incentives, tax policy etc which lead to very similar policy prescriptions such as universal healthcare, green new deal and income redistribution.
I personally enjoy every interview I see with her...she has a sense of humor, a lot of passion on her topics, tells stories well (including voices, intonations etc). I recommend both Breakfast Club interviews (one last year, one this year) as well.
The book is worth a read too if you want to understand how and why she approaches politics and policies the way she does.
