If you listen to him, particularly during last night’s State of the Union, Trump repeatedly claims that he’s already been shown to be the “Greatest [White House Resident] of all Time.” He seriously seems to think he’s outdone everyone in just two years.
Let’s take a moment to put that in perspective.
He thinks he's accomplished more than Revolutionary War, more than the Civil War, more than the Louisiana Purchase, more than the Missouri compromise, more than ending Slavery and granting Slaves the right to Vote and be considered full U.S. Citizens, more than building the trans-continental railroad, more than winning WWI, more than building the Hoover Dam in the middle of the depression, more than implementing Social Security, more than winning WWII while fighting on two different sides of the world, more than the Manhattan Project, more than the GI BIll, more then the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Act, more than landing Astronauts on the moon and bringing all of them back alive, more than establishing Medicare, more than establishing the EPA, more than opening up relations with China, more than establishing a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt, more than winning the Cold War ending the Soviet Union and (almost) turning them into an ally, more than having the Berlin Wall torn down, more than winning the Gulf War, more than passing the first balanced budget and Federal Surplus since Eisenhower, more than ending the War in Bosnia without a single U.S. soldier firing a shot, more than helping bring peace to Northern Ireland, more than establishing CHIP, more than adding a Prescription Drug plan to Medicare, more than implementing the Affordable Care Act, more than bringing the country back to normalcy after escaping the hellscape of the Great Recession and saving the American Auto Industry from collapse, and more than ordering the operation that Killed Osama bin Laden.
And he’s making this claim largely because unemployment has gone from 4.7 % down to a “miraculous” 4.0% [because it’s been slowly rising again after hitting a low point of 3.7%] in the last two years while he’s been around. He doesn’t mention that black unemployment is still about twice white unemployment, so when he’s proclaiming it’s the “lowest it’s ever been” even though that’s true, it’s still pretty shitty. He claims we have a “miracle economy” but GDP growth, the rate of job growth, and the shrinking of the unemployment rate were all greater during Obama’s last two years than they have been during Trump’s first two years. He doesn’t mention much that the DOW has basically stagnated over the last year. He doesn’t mention that wage growth is only at 3.9%, exactly where it was during November of 2016 after slumping since he was elected, or that the deficit has exploded back up to over $779 Billion per year and will likely rise to over $1 Trillion next year while US Soy Bean Farmers are in crisis and Harley Davidson and GM are closing U.S. plants because of his ridiculous trade wars with China and everyone else around the globe.
He doesn’t talk about racial tension getting completely out of hand with Neo-Nazis marching in the streets, wearing #MAGA hats and waving Trump signs while sending pipe bombs around the country to his “enemies”, or shouting “This is #MAGA Country” while beating up people in the streets. He instead wants to make an issue of a little boy who is also named “Trump” who was bullied while ignoring all the kids who people scream “Build the Wall” at, and he wants to make an issue of people killed by undocumented immigrants, but not of all the unarmed black kids killed by police.
The thing about this is that Trump himself is deeply seriously deluded and the rest of his hardcore fanclub/cult isn’t really that much better at all. Case in point GOP Rep. Chris Stewart who may seem reasonable and mild-mannered in his statements, none-the-less he is in fact a fracking lunatic as he repeatedly proclaims with a straight face that, even though he’s a member of the House Intelligence Committee that Michael Cohen and Roger Stone both lied too, that “there’s been no evidence shown of collusion with Russians” during the 2016 Campaign.
Chris Cuomo again points out here that Mueller hasn’t indicted anyone on “Collusion” because that’s not a crime, however his mandate does ask him to look for “coordination and cooperation” between members of the Trump campaign and Russians (or others) who may have trying to improperly and illegal influence the election.
Stewart says that he completely stands behind the conclusion of his committee as documented in the 2-page Nunes memo which claims that Hillary Clinton and the DNC hiring Perkins Coie, who in turn hired Fusion GPS who then hired former MI-6 operative Chris Steele who then reached out to sources in Russia and produced a report that was part of the rationale for the FISA Warrant on Carter Page is a much “bigger issue” than any of the people who lied to his Committee and are being convicted for it. He of course ignores that the FISA Warrant did state that the dossier was a political document when it said the following as I wrote months ago when the warrant was released:
This section specifically notes that [Glenn] Simpson “never advised Source #1 [Steele] as to the motivation behind the research into Candidate #1’s (Trump) ties to Russia. In other words, Steele was being paid by Fusion GPS but he didn’t specifically know — or care — who was paying them, whether it was the Washington Free Beacon or DNC law firm Perkins-Coie, it was ultimately irrelevant to the work he was doing.
This says that “FBI speculates that the identified U.S. person [Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS] was likely looking for information that could be used to discredit Candidate #1’s [Trump’s] campaign.” That is fairly explicit that Steele’s document had political origins.
Nunes’ main complaint was that the identified U.S. person wasn’t noted as being as Glenn Simpson, and the Identified U.S. based law firm weren’t specifically noted as being Perkins Coie, who were employed by the DNC who of course a the time were allied to Hillary Clinton’s campaign and would have wanted to “discredit the campaign of Trump”, even though Steele didn’t know, or care, who was paying the bills. But there’s a reason why these terms were used, which is the fact that there are masking rules in place to shield the specific identity of U.S. persons who are associated with an intelligence investigation. That’s something Nunes used to know when he accused the Obama Administration of making “intrusive unmasking requests” even when they were perfectly proper at the time.
"The unmasking thing was all created by Devin Nunes, and I'll wait to go through our full evaluation to see if there was anything improper that happened," Burr told CNN in comments reported after his committee interviewed Rice in a closed session on Friday.
"But clearly there were individuals unmasked. Some of that became public which it's not supposed to, and our business is to understand that, and explain it."
Nunes raised the notion earlier this year that Rice improperly requested the identities of Americans incidentally surveilled, claiming he viewed intelligence reports that showed President Trump and his associates were among those caught up in surveillance of foreign targets.
Democratic and Republican lawmakers who viewed the intelligence reports in question after Nunes, however, have said they show no evidence that Rice or any other member of the Obama administration did anything unusual or illegal.
So in one case, when Obama does it, unmasking U.S. citizens is “bad”, but then when they finally manage to get the unmasked names from the FISA Warrant their complaint is the fact that they were masked as if if this was suddenly now “improper.”
That is a load of crap.
To his credit Cuomo gets a lot of good shots in as Stewart blathers on, but the facts are these:
Michael Cohen coordinated and cooperated with Russians while working on the (illegal) Trump Tower Moscow project then lied about it to Congress — including to Rep. Stewart — with the knowledge, awareness and approval of the White House, Trump and the Russians because they lied about it too. Cohen also cooperated and coordinated with Ukrainians to try and get the Russian sanctions dropped, and with Russian Oligarch Victor Vekselberg of the Renova Group, who has business ties with Oleg Deripaska, to help get him into the Inauguration using his American cousin Andrew Intratar with Columbus Nova to make a straw donation, after which his cousin paid Cohen $500,000 to lobby Trump on — you guess it, sanctions — and Vekselberg then bragged that Trump would ultimately drop them, which he just did this week on Deripaska’s companies.
George Papadopoulos was personally authorized by Trump to reach out to coordinate and cooperate with Prof MIfsud and with Russian operatives who told him about the hacked “dirt” on Hillary months before it was known to the FBI or the DNC.
George Papadopoulos claimed last year that Donald Trump telephoned him to discuss his new position as a foreign policy adviser to his presidential campaign and that the two had at least one personal introductory meeting that the White House has not acknowledged.
Papadopoulos also claimed that he’d been given a “blank check” to choose a senior Trump administration job and was authorized to represent the candidate in overseas meetings with foreign leaders, and at a campaign event in New York.
He failed to report that he’d been told about a felony to law enforcement and then he lied about it to the FBI when they questioned him.
Roger stone coordinated and cooperated with Russian operatives who had supplied Julian Assange and Wikileaks with the hacked and stolen DNC and Podesta emails first discovering what they had through a chain of intermediaries including Jerome Corsi, Ted Malloch and reporters for RT, then reported what he learned back to Steve Bannon. Later after someone in the WH was tipped off by the WaPo that the Billy Bush Access Hollywood Access tape was about to drop Stone again reached out to Corsi and his communication chain to let Assange and Wikileaks know so that they could release the first segment of their Podesta emails just 20 minutes after the WaPo put out the Billy Bush tape. He also coordinated and cooperated directly with Russian GRU intel operatives calling themselves Guccifer 2.0 on hacked and stolen GOTV and tracking information from the DCCC, then he lied about all of this to Congress and tried to claim his real link to Wikileaks was radio host Randy Credico and attempted to coerce Credico to refuse to testify both to Congress and to Mueller.
Paul Manafort and Rick Gates coordinated and cooperated with his Russian Military intelligence operative Konstantin Kilimnick and Russian intelligence operative and Oligrach Oleg Deripaska employee Victor Boyarkin to share inside campaign information with Deripaska in order to pay off the $18 Million he owed him, and also shared internal polling data with Kilimnick which was given to Putin friendly Oligarchs in the Ukraine who owed Manafort cash. Gates and Manafort were convicted of money laundering, bank fraud and tax evasion from all the Russia/Ukraining money they had flying back and forth, then Manafort managed to violate his cooperation deal with Mueller by lying about his having still been in contact with the White House and also Kilimnick during his plea deal.
British lawyer Alex Van Der Zwaan who worked with a firm that concocted phony charges against the successor and nemesis to Manafort’s cash-under-the-table financial benefactor, former Ukranian President Viktor Yanakovych, and helped wrongly send her to prison was convicted of lying about the fact the Rick Gates and GRU operative Kilimnick were still in contact during the election.
Donald Trump Jr. attempted to coordinate and cooperate with Natalia Veselnitskaya in order to gain access to supposed “dirt” on Hillary Clinton and the DNC in exchange for changes or removal of Magnitsky Act sanctions in a secret Trump tower meeting which included yet another Russian GRU Intelligence operative, Rinat Akhmetshin. The attempt failed, but there were attempted follow-ups on it both by Rob Goldstone who is the music promoter for the son of Russian Oligarch Aras Agalarov, and also by Veselnitskaya who emailed Trump Tower to get status on the Magnitsky Act efforts and was referred to Steve Bannon.
And now Veselnitskaya has been indicted for being working in coordination and cooperation with the Russian government for having edited and curated the official Russian government response to inquires about potential Magnitsky Act violations to the DOJ while she was the attorney for one of the defendants in the very same case.
Later, after news of the Don Jr. meeting broke, Trump himself met secretly during the G-20 face-to-face with Vladimir Putin without any American translators or note takers available during a discussion where Putin brought up the issue of “Russian adoptions.” On his way back to the U.S. on Air Force One Trump himself dictated a bogus response to the story that claimed that Don Jr’s meeting had been “mostly about adoptions” when in fact it had been about Magnitsky Act sanctions and the “dirt on Hillary.”
Carter Page coordinated and cooperated with Russians who told him about the “dirt” they had on Hillary — just as they told Papadopoulos, and had tried to tell Don Jr. — by failing to report it to the FBI while he was functionally acting as a surrogate for Trump after Paul Manafort decided “we need to send someone low level so we don’t send a signal.” I wonder what that signal might have been, “Hey, Russia we’re open for business?”
And this isn’t everyone, there’s still Jared Kushner meeting various Russian oligarchs, and the Crown Princes of the UEA and Saudi Arabia during the transition secretly, Michael Flynn taking money from Russia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia without prior authorization then suggesting to the Russian ambassador that Trump would drop Obama’s sanction in retaliation for for their meddling in our election and then lying about it to the FBI and VP Pence.
This is just a slice of things, because there’s much more. Even with all this they claim Trump had nothing to do with any of it? That even though he personally authorized Papadopoulos to contact the Russians, and he was personally kept up to date by Michael Cohen’s attempts to reach out to Russians deep into the campaign right up to the point that it was shown that Russia had hacked the DNC in order to turn the election in Trump’s favor, he was somehow in the dark? Clearly Manafort was aware of what Papadopoulos was doing, and what Carter Page was doing when he went to Russia and was informed, again, about the “Hillary Dirt” and the sale of 19% of Rosneft to the QIA fund which later Kushner tried to get a piece of by using his connection to the UAE and Saudi Arabian to force them to invest in 666 Park Ave, but even with all this we’re supposed to not know or care about that and still believe it has nothing to do with Trump?
That is simply put, bullshit.
90% of this happened inside Trump Tower with Donald just a few feet down the hall.
And yet with all this we’re supposed to believe Trump didn’t even hear about any of it even in passing? And still Stewart says — even with people who lied to his face like Cohen and Stone about their communications with and about the Russians — that there’s been “no proof of collusion?”
Are you fucking kidding me?
This ridiculously deluded crap is what we have to deal with as we try to move forward with a new Democratic Congress. And it’s not just Stewart we have to deal with, it’s people who dearly want to believe the mind numbing fantasy that Trump’s selling that all these people who were openly and enthusiastically reaching out to Russia, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the Ukraine without governmental authorization, all in violation of the Logan Act, where so many of them lied about it under oath or attempted to intimidate witnesses, that there’s was still no underlying agenda at play?
All of this is just dumb unlucky coincidence?
They want to really believe that Trump is the G.O.A.T. And perhaps the worst example of this, and the most dangerous to the nation itself has been his own tendency to believe deluded bigoted wives tales instead of his own national security briefing team.
Multiple officials spoke with Time magazine to warn that the commander-in-chief is endangering U.S. security by disregarding intelligence assessments.
They cited Trump’s “willful ignorance” during briefings.
“What is most troubling, say these officials and others in government and on Capitol Hill who have been briefed on the episodes, are Trump’s angry reactions when he is given information that contradicts positions he has taken or beliefs he holds,” Time reported. “Two intelligence officers even reported that they have been warned to avoid giving the President intelligence assessments that contradict stances he has taken in public.”
During a briefing on a key U.S. airbase on the Diego Garcia atoll in the Indian Ocean, Trump reportedly questioned briefers as to whether the people were nice and the beaches were good.
“Some of us wondered if he was thinking about our alliance with the Brits and the security issues in an important area where the Chinese have been increasingly active, or whether he was thinking like a real estate developer,” on official said.
During another briefing, Trump claimed that independent countries of Nepal and Bhutan — which he mispronounced — were part of India.
He called Nepal and Bhutan — “Nipple and Button.” This follows his having blown up at his national security team who testified under oath to Congress that North Korea is unlikely to give up their nuclear weapons, that ISIS remains strong and likely to reconstitute their forces and that Iran is still abiding by the nuclear proliferation deal that was established by President Obama, Europe, China and Russia all in agreement even through Trump has pulled the U.S. out of it. Denying these facts are seriously dangerous delusions just as problematic as his ridiculous fetish for a border “wall” and the litany of bigoted lies exaggerating the rate of crime, drugs and human trafficking that’s taking place somewhere in the desert in the few gaps that remain between the existing border barrier or on the banks of the Rio Grande.
Trump is depending on a significant portion of the public, somewhere between 30-40% who are similarly deluded, who won’t question his lies, who won’t question what the hell his campaign was doing in bed with so many Russian intelligence officers.
He’s depending on their willful ignorance. For their willingness to buy into his puffery about a “miracle economy” while people of color continue to fall behind on the wage gap and are being hunted on our streets by police and right-wing neo-nazi gangs while he says nothing, and does nothing except claim “there are good people on both sides.”
I do believe that the scales will be lifted from their eyes as former convicted Trumpsters like Michael Cohen — and I expect Roger Stone as well — begin singing like canaries. I believe we’re likely to see indictments against Don Jr. and Kushner for lying to congress.
When that happens, we’ll be in a whole new ballgame — and it can’t happen soon enough in my opinion.

Congressional GOP Reps — including Mark Meadows [R-NC] and Sam Graves [R-NO] — send a letter to the GAO Inspector Generals demanding and explanation for their report which said that the approval for the lease of Trump’s DC hotel shouldn't have been granted due to the emoluments clause claiming they didn't show any “undue influence" in their report [Which ignores the fact that TRUMP IS IN THE WHITE HOUSE, and that’s the definition of “undue influence” because he’s the leaser and the lessee at the same time.]

Gavin McInnes sues the SPLC for labeling the Proud Boys — which he quit a couple months ago and who like to go around beating up unarmed Antifa protestors— as a “Hate Group.” The FBI appears to be on the fence on this issue saying "individual members have been violent” but haven’t fully committed to that view for the entire group. [So this means he’s “Proud" again?]

SDNY subpoenas the Trump inaugural committee for all their documentation apparently to determine if their were illegal straw donors for Russian oligarchs. [Yes, there were and his name was Victor Vekselberg whose cousin donated $250,000 to the inauguration so he could attend and met to setup a deal with Michael Cohen, then bragged that Trump would eliminate sanctions him and his business partner Deripaska — which they just did.]

Northum reportedly doesn’t want to resign because then he’ll be labelled a “racist for life” [As opposed to just a racist “Coonman” in 1985, who changed — excepts he still thinks using black face to do a Michael Jackson dance is just fine...] Also former Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) parrots Lieberman saying this is a “rush to judgement" and we shouldn’t used the “political death penalty” against Northum. [Former SC Governor Mark Sanford found a zombie life in Congress after his “political death” on the Appalachian trail, why can't this guy apologize and step down for now then prove he means it and work his way back?]
-
NYTimes reports that part of the reason Trump allowed the government to re-open is so that he could do a “reverent” SOTU. [So the starving Government workers who are looking at having their credit ratings ruined — or the TSA worker who committed suicide — mean nothing to him compared to giving a big speech?]
-
Eric Trump responds to the “60% Executive Time” report by being outraged that his dad “hasn’t left the WH in 5 weeks.” [Um, he said during the campaign that he would never leave the WH at all while he was talking shit about Obama golfing.] Then he gets back to purging undocumented workers from Trump properties since several of them said Trump Management had falsified documents for them in order to keep saving cash on the payroll.
-
SHuckabee shrugs at the SDNY inaugural subpoena saying “It has nothing to do with the WH.” [They're gonna be frog-marching people out of the West Wing pretty soon and she’ll be saying the "West Wing has nothing to do with the White House.”]
-
Treasury Sec Mnuchin has a two-pronged plan to block Congress from getting Trump's taxes arguing that Dems can't be trusted not to leak the returns, which would be a felony. [Oh, but Devin Nunes could be trusted not to leak shit?]
-
Napolitano claims that Dems only want Northum out so that they can “paint Trump as a Racist.” [Sure, but Trump is a racist just based on all his “national emergency of crime and drugs, human trafficking and terrorism requires a wall" bullshit, when he’s grossly exaggerating all of those problems in a bigoted way, ignoring the valid human rights issue of asylum when a wall won't help with any of those issues but has nothing to say about thousands of pounds of meth found in a truck at points of entry, or people who fly here on planes overstaying their VISAS — no matter what happens to Northum.]

Memos show that Tom Barret who was the Inaugural Chair and his company The Colony sought to use the event to exploit people’s desire to foster connections to Trump.

GOP Senate Leaders say they want a deal on border security whether or not Trump approves of it.

Trump delivers his SOTU Speech.
-
Sen. Schumer says the SOTU speech was like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde.
-
Former Sen. Santorum says it was “probably” his worse speech.
-
Ann Coulter says it was his “lamest, sappiest” on ever.
-
Despite his calls for “unity” Trump had called Joe Biden “Dumb” and Chuck Schumer a “son of a bitch” at a pre-SOTU lunch gathering. [So much for the platitudes...]
