A few things on my mind tonight…
First, there is the issue of Georgia voting and the silent treatment given by the new, and still deeply indebted Republican, Secretary of State. It seems that... “Brad Raffensperger, Kemp’s successor as secretary of state, has been pursuing the same approach to the job since taking over in January: Ignore election security experts and malign any advice coming from Washington.” — Politico, ERIC GELLER; 03/09/2019 06:43 AM EST
Why are we still at this point? Kemp was called out by the FBI for lax control over the voter database. Two separate “white-hat” hackers informed Kemp of the vulnerabilities of the Georgia voter registration roles prior to 2016, and both Kemp and Raffensperger have denied independent auditing of the electronic voting system for safety, security and accuracy in voting tabulation. Why, oh why, is this still being thwarted in light of seeking truth? Please consider, there may be issues of truth afoot.
“Marilyn Marks, executive director of the Coalition for Good Governance, an activist group that is suing Georgia over vulnerabilities in its election system. “Raffensperger doesn’t even pretend to care about a better voting system, ethics, or fiscal responsibility.””
The FBI alerted then SoS Kemp, now Governor, that Russia had targeted and likely acquired the state’s voter roles. The question arises, who else was allowed access to the very private and very detailed database? Was it vendors in concert with GOP candidates? Was it China? North Korea? Iran? Koch Industries? Who else? More importantly, why was it allowed to be accessed? Who designed the vulnerabilities with what intent? Therein lies the question.
Frankly, the voting issue in Georgia appears to be a sham, with unverifiable results, unaudited software and corrupt management favoring our favorite “good ‘ol boyz”. Let us hear it for Democracy! Cough...cough...
Secondly, I ran into ‘excessively granted, white, self-imposed privilege”. Without going too far into detail, an authority figure called out opposition to peaceful means to discuss differences between bright and blood-red emotions of politics and more genteel and authentic means of discussion in favor of name-calling, derision and disgust. For some reason, I fail to understand why it is acceptable for the violent ”right” to demand acceptance of their views but fail to accept any views of others. It appears to be a double standard.
If I may, I wish to ask among readers, what manner can there be a bridge across the divide? Is the water so polluted that sane and meaningful discourse is no long possible? Is it time for me to liquidate US assets and move to Chile?
And third. Food and beverage sustain me. Poetry, art and joy have to fill the void of logic and disdain which envelopes us. Enjoy that which is wholesome, pure and good, for that is the basis of our existence. For me, I just cracked a 12 year old bottle of Scotch. It is all that I remember...
Peace.
