If our goal is to take back the White House in 2020, then the democrats need a candidate who is smart, articulate, extremely knowledgeable in government and law, is an excellent communicator, is appealing to people, and who already has name recognition. Not to mention is young, white, moderate, and already well known. The man that comes to my mind is Chris Cuomo. He is smart, having graduated from Yale and from Fordham University Law School. Being a lawyer, he knows the law and how to apply it to execute laws that are fair, and helpful for people; think President Clinton or President Barrack Obama. His law degree has also prepared him for the part of a President’s job that requires the reading of hundreds of pages of intelligence briefings a day. It is said that Barrack Obama spent fourteen hours a day reading in the west wing and then took homework back to the East wing with him. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a president once again who had the ambition, and ability to read the intelligence briefings, research studies, and had the comprehension level required to apply the information necessary for making the best decisions for our country? Cuomo’s job as a journalist at one of the leading news organizations and his graduation from a top law school prove that he already has the track record for doing intense study, higher level thinking, problem solving, and the ability to communicate the things he has learned in an effective way to our country and the world.
Not only does his job as a CNN anchorman keep him well studied on all things political, but it also is a benefit in that it gives him national and even international name recognition. Previous to his prime time show on CNN he hosted the morning show which was viewed by millions around the globe. Cuomo is respected as a journalist. He is known for searching for the truth, and holding people on both sides of aisle to a standard of truth. He conducts himself with integrity, and honor, which is the kind of conduct that would elicit respect from both allies and enemies.
Would it not be a refreshing change to have a President come to the podium with a desire to give the American people truth, and use language that is clean and inspiring, and that helps our country’s people feel a little more united when it is finished? Chris Cuomo is a defender of facts, is not afraid to stand up for truth. Aren’t we thirsty for truth? Aren’t we looking forward to the day when our president holds finding and speaking facts as much of a priority as our press does. We need truth. Cuomo is a seeker of truth, a defender of truth, and a communicator of truth. He will be a valiant warrior in restoring the cornerstone of our nation which is truth. Without truth our government will fall, for in these United States our people are the government; how can they be expected to vote for the effective non-corrupt leaders and actions if they are habitually fed lies by political office holders whose words they trust?
Cuomo is the very antithesis of Trump, not only for his desire to seek, defend, and speak truth, but for a host of other reasons. If Trump is the physical embodiment of the seven deadly sins, then Cuomo can be looked to as a role model for those who seek to nurture the mind, body, and spirit. While Trump is obese due to unhealthy diet, and lack of exercise, Cuomo has a healthy physique due to a regular rigorous exercise routine and healthy diet. While Trump is does not read, was never a scholar, did not want grades or test scores revealed, and has led a slothful life when it comes to academic study, Cuomo is a scholar. Cuomo was an exemplary student in high school, college, and law school. He studies everyday and is a lifelong learner. He swims in a political and legal academic ocean.
On top of all this, he has, what the current president surely lacks, empathy. The thing that would have saved thousands of children from being ripped from their mother’s arms, and possibly the second worst humanitarian crisis in this country after slavery. He has the kind of empathy that would have gotten the funding and an expedited response to the hurricane disaster in Puerto Rico; empathy could have prevented deaths, and gotten electricity, rebuilt homes, and helped people rebuild their lives.
